Turning Over a New Leaf in Eco-friendly Dinnerware-Great “Green” Wedding Gift!

Verterra_Bowls3

Again, I am amazed and delighted by the creative ingenuity of people who find ways to transform would-be “waste” into stylish and sustainable products. Introducing VerTerra Dinnerware—an eco-friendly and eco-elegant collection of plates, bowls, and serving dishes made from fallen palm trees. How cool! Brides, if you are looking for eco-unique green wedding gift ideas, this one has my vote!

VerTerra is serving up a greener dinnerware collection with these sustainable practices:

  • Made of 100% fallen leaves and water
  • Non-toxic and free from chemicals, waxes, or dyes
  • 80% of the water used in processing is recaptured and recycled
  • 100% natural and biodegradable (although you won’t want to throw these away!)
  • VerTerra products are made in South Asia, where they have created hundreds of fair-wage jobs for craftspeople who work in safe working conditions, are provided access to healthcare and earn a steady income well above the average rate to support their families.

Bravo VerTerra! Special thanks to Theodore Samuels for photography & Silkstone Events (food)

  1. Thanks very much for featuring Verterra!

A few new bits of information:

We’re now in about half of all Whole Foods stores, about 300 stores in general, and online, including Amazon. You can find where we are near you or online by clicking the Store Locator button on the top right of http://www.verterra.com

We’re now recycling 84% of the water the factory uses, aiming for 90%. It’s so clean, the CEO actually drinks it!

Zero of the leaves we use to make plates (about 15 tons a month) goes to waste, as we powder the cuttings into fertilizer usable by the farmers we get leaves from.

If anybody has any questions about Verterra, I’m happy to answer or find out for you.
